Wauconda High School teacher Bob Gillen dies in car accident near Wheeling

Wheeling, IL – The Wauconda High School community is reeling from the devastating loss of a revered educator and Head Athletic Trainer, Bob Gillen, who tragically passed away in a fatal car accident on Sunday. The 53-year-old lost his life in a collision occurring around 2:15 a.m. on East Palatine Road near Wheeling Road.

Initial investigations indicated that a suspected intoxicated driver, traveling eastbound on Palatine Road, veered into the westbound lanes, resulting in a collision with an oncoming vehicle. Regrettably, Bob Gillen was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
