I watched The View this morning seeing if they’d cope with the controversy over their faulty “Down Low” conversation bearing on gay black males ultimate month. (As we mentioned earlier today, GLAAD has taken out a full web page ad criticizing The View for inaccuracy and soliciting for an apology.) They didn’t, (no less than within the first half that I noticed) however they did speak about Mel Gibson’s rant against Oksana. One factor I found very fascinating is that Whoopi Goldberg sort-of defended Mel and stated she knew him personally and knew he wasn’t a racist. (Video is above.) She did admit again and again that he used to be an “a**hollow” and a “bonehead” even though. Joy countered that the guy is a racist and anti-semite and that there are many individuals who drink closely and don’t say those things. It’s price noting that Whoopi is not saying Mel was once inebriated when he said the ones terrible issues to Oksana, she’s saying he was inebriated when he went off at the police officer all the way through his 2006 DUI arrest. Here’s the relevant a part of their conversation.

Whoopi: I don’t like what he did here, but I know Mel and I know he’s not a racist… He may be a bonehead… I've had a protracted friendship with Mel…

You can say he’s being a bonehead but I will be able to’t sit and say that he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I will’t say it and so I truly simply wish to say that. I don’t like what he’s completed. Make no mistake…

Joy: Somebody says to a police officer, “The Jews are responsible for all the wars on the planet.” That’s not anti-semitic?

Whoopi: Drunks say stupid stuff to other folks always because they’re inebriated. They’re out of keep watch over. They are not thinking they're idiotic. That’s why I don’t like alcohol. I will’t say anything else about that because I know what individuals are like after they’re drunk. This rant, I don’t suppose he’s under the influence of alcohol on this rant…

Bonnie Fuller of Hollywood Life was once on MSNBC this morning discussing this subject and she thinks that Mel’s occupation is with reference to over now that this tape has come out. Mel’s been formally dropped through his company and the discharge of his film The Beaver with Jodie Foster has been postponed. He’s not a bankable big name through any stretch at this point and the future of all of his initiatives is up to query.

Meanwhile more of Mel Gibson’s very offensive disgusting e mail rant has been posted on Radar. Kaiser will cover that in a while and the gist is that it’s worse than the closing one.
